Stewart holds certifications from numerous strength, training and health organizations and has been a student of the martial arts for 30 years. It’s all about cause and effect and I want to see results from literally every motion my clients make. I’ve been training for most of my life and have seen the way people change as they get into it. Of course, their bodies change but what is really amazing is to see attitudes shift, energy increase and overall happiness go off the charts. That infectious spirit is why I created Focus Fitness. Ben has spent years studying exercise physiology and nutrition, which he focuses entirely on helping his clients achieve the results they desire. He holds a bachelors degree from Florida State University with a concentration in exercise science, food and nutrition. Ben is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a personal trainer and also holds certifications in CPR and first aid. He is also educated in nutritional counseling and orthopedic rehabilitation. I love seeing my clients improve because results are so motivational. Regardless of experience level, my focus is always on developing the best, most appropriate program possible and then making it fun and interesting to do. Stewart Breeding, Owner, CPT Throughout my life, I have dedicated myself to mastering the art of physical training. With a background in the disciplined study of martial arts, I have developed a passion for the body and its dynamic movements. My study of martial arts began at the age of 7 and quickly became the foundation for my own personal development. By age 14, I was competing in elite power lifting, and won the USPF Teenage Championships at age 16 and 17. I have been blessed to work closely with the world?s most elite professionals in the fields of competitive weight training, orthopedic rehabilitation, martial arts and general fitness. In addition to these professionals, I have been trained by the US Army as a member of the 82nd airborne division. I believe in the importance of spiritual development and self-reflection. I am experienced in Zen and yoga meditation methods and have studied Aikido for 17 years under master instructors Mitsugi Saotome and Hiroshi Ikeda. These experiences become central in my teachings of weight loss practices and resistance training. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida and have multiple certifications in personal and strength training associations. My educational background in psychological and physiological sciences has developed the foundation for my integrative health perspective. In seeking my own path toward personal wellness, I discovered that helping others find that same balance is something I am led to accomplish. Ben Davis, BS, CPT Since 2005, I have been a member of the Focus Fitness Training team. I am a Nashville native who holds a B.S. in Exercise Science from Florida State University. In addition to my primary degree I have an NSCA Personal Training Certification and expertise in nutritional sciences. These credentials and my extensive hands-on experiences are the foundation upon which I develop my highly effective training protocols. Every one of my clients is given an individualized plan which will challenge the client to reach beyond current ability levels and to find new dimensions of fitness. I love working with all levels and backgrounds of exercisers, from individuals concerned with orthopedic rehabilitation to adolescent exercisers and athletes. My methods are client-centered, whatever their fitness background, I will work tirelessly to create an effective regimen. I am committed to the growth of the client not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. Drawing upon my unwavering faith and a dedication to building personal relationships, I work to help my clients reach their health and fitness objectives. Jennifer Grafton, BS, CPT I pride myself on being a no nonsense, results driven trainer. I earned my degree in Exercise Science from Middle Tennessee State University and hold certifications in Personal Training from ACE and AFAA. Through my educational journey, I have developed methods which are precise and results which are inevitable. While at Focus, I have learned the art of maximizing muscular strength, endurance, and cardiovascular training in each session. It is my main objective to offer my clients an effective balance of exercises which will combine to optimize physical performance. Based on the philosophy of Focus, my clients and I share a relationship which allows me to challenge clients to the edge of their ability, and then help them find the will to take that extra step. The respect, trust and camaraderie that are built between my clients and myself provide the basis for an intense, supportive, and personalized training routine. Paul Masterson, BS, CPT An NSA Certified Personal Trainer and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, I rely on my education and personal commitment to fitness to craft each client?s training plan. Because I know that commitment and excellence lead to success, I expect the highest level of performance from my clients and I am equally dedicated to their success. Through standardized assessments and nutritional guidance, I will work to provide balance and motivation which are essential in reaching health and fitness goals. Beginning exercisers and elite athletes alike have seen the benefits of my understanding of body mechanics and mental preparation in training. My background is based in business and management. This expertise becomes apparent in the structure, creativity and efficiency of every movement. All my training sessions are designed for effectiveness and performance. In addition to individual trainings, I am also one of the instructors of the Focus Outdoor Bootcamp. I often transfer these same principles and dynamic movements into individual training sessions. Tiffany Watson, PhD I joined the Focus Fitness team as a Performance Enhancement Consultant. Holding a Masters degree in Sport Psychology and a PhD in Health and Human Performance, I am devoted to the intricacies of the mind and body connection. While in graduate school at Georgia Southern I had the opportunity to work with a variety of fitness enthusiasts and Division I student-athletes to enhance their daily performance. My approach is strictly client-centered, dedicated to addressing individual needs. The most common techniques include: visualization, motivation, positive self-talk, and attention training. As a member of the Focus team, I will be available to coach clients on the mental components of fitness and nutrition, as well as provide techniques for developing an integrated wellness program. An integrated program includes a balanced focus on the mental, spiritual, emotional and physical dimensions of wellness. Through these, any goals are possible. Currently I serve as an adjunct instructor at Belmont University in the Sport Science Department and also as a consultant to the athletic department where I work with coaches and student-athletes. In addition to my role in higher education, I am the head soccer coach at Harpeth Hall High School and have been a middle school basketball coach for four years previously. I am passionate about the development of adolescents as they begin to develop an interest in fitness and nutrition. Whether you are a novice exerciser or a seasoned competitor, I will help you to step beyond the boundaries of your physical and mental capabilities. Tammy Dooley, Operations and Customer Service Manager Tammy is an irreplaceable member of the Focus Fitness team. She is the customer service liaison and the operations manager. The most important role that Tammy plays is as a walking example of how Focus Fitness can truly touch a person from the inside, out. Tammy first walked through the doors of Focus as a new client searching for her own path to weight loss and improved personal wellness. Now, after a successful life and body transformation, Tammy is a dedicated member of the Focus staff. Her ability to motivate and articulate the passion and feelings that resonate within the walls of Focus are the result of personal experience and accomplishment. This transformation has prompted Tammy to share with others the life change that she now lives everyday. Environment The studio has been carefully designed with the client as its center, creating an atmosphere which reflects a place of study rather than a gym. At Focus, physical development is an art form. When you train at Focus, you enter a sanctuary void of any distractions such as televisions or cell phones which monopolize your time on a daily basis. With no more than 5 trainers on the floor at any time you will never wait on machines or equipment. The intimate setting maximizes the energy and dynamic atmosphere. Method In order to ensure a complete wellness experience, 3-stage Japanese process called Shu (form), Ha (function) and Ri (content) is the foundation upon which every teaching at Focus is built. Focus Bootcamps Focus provides intensive group training options that can supplement or replace your normal routine. The camps offer a variety of objectives depending on the goals of the group. The Outdoor, Bridal, Youth and Team Green Member Bootcamps are all specially tailored to help members reach time-sensitive goals. All Focus Bootcamps will include a variety of resistance training and cardiovascular activities. You will be exposed to free weights, medicine balls, jump ropes, ladder drills, sprint and endurance intervals, military style plyometrics and isometric training activities. The hour long sessions will push you to excel and with the support of the rest of the group, you will find the will to reach new fitness milestones. All classes include both males and females with various backgrounds and exercise experiences. Our instructors are conscientious of this and challenge each member through the opportunity to push one another while enjoying individual improvement. Outdoor Bootcamp: Outdoor Bootcamp is unlike anything you have ever experienced. It is intense, dynamic, group-oriented training three days a week. Rain or shine this camp takes place outside and there are no cancellations?can you handle it? The commitment is serious and so is our dedication to your success. Training sessions emphasize core fitness, cardiovascular endurance, and strength training using kettle bells, resistance bands, plyometrics, and flexibility. All equipment will be provided. All you need to bring is a water bottle and a positive attitude. Prior to the first session, you will be asked to complete exercise and health history, current weight and any potential physical limitations. If you are transitioning back into exercise after injury or medical procedures, we recommend you begin in one of our personalized training programs before embarking on a Bootcamp experience. Each camp is limited to 15 participants to provide optimal personal attention by our staff. However, this does mean space is limited so do not hesitate. Camps are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, 6:15-7:30am and last 4 consecutive weeks. On the first day of each session, you will meet your camp director at Focus Fitness on Thompson Lane and will venture together to the camp location. Pricing: Registration is $240 per session.
